Obsessed with PINE!
Obsessed with PINE!

So, who doesn’t LOVE the smell of pine around Christmas time?! All throughout the season, we see Christmas trees, wreaths, garland, and swags for sale everywhere we look. We buy them for our homes, not only because they are beautiful, but also because they smell amazing!

Our family has gotten Christmas trees before that did not have that fresh pine smell and OH the disappointment! We would use pine scented candles or the pine scented ornaments you can place on your tree.

I recently read of the potential dangers of burning scented candles in your home. Apparently the allegations that scented candles release toxic and cancer-causing chemicals are unproven at this time. The National Candle Association’s website does a great job of laying out the science behind VOCs in the air and debunked the scary myths we have heard in the news. Check out their site if you’d like to read more.

However, if you are like me, you don’t want to take a chance with your family’s health. I have always loved Yankee Candles and thought they smelled the most authentic and lasted the longest. I’d go crazy when they had a huge sale, stocking up on candles for the entire year. Well, this year I refrained. I am not a big essential oil mama; only because I don’t know enough about them yet. I certainly want to understand more about how they are used. However, I do have a diffuser that I use with essential oils for aromatherapy.

I tossed the pine scented candle and purchased the oil on Amazon for UNDER $10! I put 4 drops of balsam fir needle essential oil into my diffuser along with the required water. Thats IT! The whole house smells like a Christmas tree and we don’t even have one yet!! The fragrance is far stronger and more authentic than any pine candle I’ve ever burned. I plan on doing this all year round. Because, who says we can only enjoy the scent of pine during the Christmas season?
